Yee-haw

Today in my school we had a Calgary Stampede parade.  I decorated my wheelchair like a pirate ship with balloons and ribbon and three pirate flags. We went around the play ground and passed all the parents who were watching. My Mom and brothers came to watch the parade. My friends pushed me everywhere. They've been a good help.
We also had Sports Day which is like a celebration that we have were the teachers set up different stations and the kids go around to the stations and play the games. It was really hard because I couldn't do all the activities. I felt a little sad because some of the little games looked fun.

The Movies

Today I went to the movie theater with my mom. We saw the movie Brave. One of the hardest parts was that you had to be in a special seat. Before the movie we went shopping. I bought a pack of earings. It was pretty easy because we took the wheelchair and all I had to do was sit in the wheelchair.
Lots of people were staring at me. I don't really mind but still. The chinook movie theater was really good for kids in a wheelchair or on crutches so I would recommend that.

The School Day

Today I'm going to tell you about school and how I do it. First my friends help me a lot so it's pretty easy. It's really hard on the playground because you can't join in with everything you used to be able to do. So what you need to do is you get a friend or someone to bring a couple of books or things that you can do while your sitting down. In the class what you do is you get someone to to pull up two seats and bring a pillow so that you can rest your leg on it.

My Purple Leg

This blog is about what it's like to have a broken leg when your 8. I'm going to write about the things that are fun and easy to do, but also the things that are challenging.

I broke my leg on Fathers Day 2012 on the trampoline in my back yard.

One of the hardest things to do was to get used to the crutches. You have to start with little steps and work your way up.  After a while your arms start to hurt a little bit.  My mom had to rent me a wheelchair.

Some of the things you should think about are that the more you rest it the quicker it will get better.
